Darren L. Schultz is an associate attorney with Beaumont Gitlin Tashjian. Mr. Schultz’ background includes civil litigation, including products liability, landlord-tenant, real estate, juvenile dependency, and appellate advocacy. He has represented a wide range of clients in complex state and federal cases including winning several motions to compel, motions for summary judgment, motions to strike or tax costs, motions in limine, and critical evidentiary rulings during trial against large corporate defendants.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Schultz defended Washington, D.C. low-income tenants, winning large damages awards, attorney’s fees, civil fines, injunctive relief, and settlement agreements against slum landlords. His work helped force landlords to abate major housing code violations and bring his clients’ apartments into compliance with the housing code.

Mr. Schultz received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Global Studies, Socioeconomics and Politics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law, where he was a Dean’s Fellow, an Equal Justice Works Summer Public Interest Fellow, winner of the CLEA Outstanding Clinical Litigation Award, and regional semi-finalist in the AAJ Student Trial Advocacy Competition.

During law school, Mr. Schultz logged more than 3,000 hours of clinical litigation and representation on behalf of the residents of Washington, D.C., volunteered with the New Orleans Public Defenders, and interned with the Neighborhood Legal Services Program in Washington, D.C, where he assisted in the creation of the National Commission on the Voting Rights Act.
